Exhibition at Kinfolk 90 (2018)
The now-closed Kinfolk boutique and bar in Williamsburg, NY was a longstanding advocate of the arts, having collaborated with an international community of creative professionals. In 2018, I assisted in the curation of the store’s first-ever art exhibition entitled “Kinetic” that spotlighted never-before-seen works by Brooklyn-based artists Meguru Yamaguchi and Yoon Hyup. Meguru’s sculptural paintings of brushstrokes made using a technique called “Cut & Paste” were placed in tandem with Yoon’s signature line-and-dot paintings inspired by contemporary cityscapes, jazz, hip-hop as well as skateboarding culture.
In addition to the show, I helped produce limited edition prints featuring a collaborative design by the artists as well as ceramic incense holders made by Yoon’s partner and ceramicist, Dohee Kim.
