Leeum Museum x Hypeart VIP Tour & Media Partnership (2022)
Back in August 2022, HypeArt partnered with Acute Art and the Leeum Museum of Art in Seoul, South Korea, on an ambitious new exhibition exploring the possibilities of augmented reality and virtual reality. Dubbed 'Kaleidoscope Eyes,' the show presented works from an extraordinary list of artists, including Koo Jeong A, Nina Chanel Abney, Darren Bader, Marco Brambilla, Lee Bul, Julie Curtiss, Olafur Eliasson, Cao Fei, KAWS, Alicja Kwade, Bjarne Melgaard, Ho Tzu Nyen, Precious Okyomon, David Shrigley, and Tomas Saraceno. I handled the programming and media partnership for this innovative exhibition.
A special tour was held on August 30 for Frieze VIP members, just before launching its inaugural fair in the Korean capital. Daniel Birnbaum, Artistic Director of Acute Art, guided a group of visitors from diverse backgrounds—from young art fans in their 20s to seasoned professionals—all equally fascinated by how AR and VR are redefining the parameters of art-making.
Although Acute Art has extensively covered AR in the past, 'Kaleidoscope Eyes' marked the first time they held an exhibition at a museum where they could curate and be part of the official program, solidifying the growing interest in these burgeoning fields.
